Pywikibot help, python not working

I’m having trouble configuring pywikibot. For a start, when I try typing the command python -V into python 3.8, it says:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module>
NameError: name 'python' is not defined

Then, when I try pip install requests, it says:
  File "<stdin>", line 1
    pip install requests
        ^
SyntaxError: invalid syntax

And that’s in python only. When I try commands in command prompt such as python, literally nothing happens. I have no idea what to do about it and how this can be fixed, so help would be much appreciated.

These are shell commands, not python commands.
